Mike Chmura and I have been discussing a possible CGDC doubles league at Winget on Sundays. I will be bringing the topic up for discussion at the Club's meeting on June 12.

The goal will be a Sunday AM doubles league that would primarily draw from the SW Charlotte and the local South Carolina DGers. It is not intended to compete with the Reedy AM singles; the 2 courses are probably the furthest apart of the Charlotte courses and has minimal overlap potential. Currently considering details--probably mid morning start (to minimize the summer heat), $5 entry fee ($4 for CGDC members), moderate (25-30%) cash payout.

We had a test run this afternoon (with only minimal promotion) and had seven teams at a moments notice. Three teams tied at -8 and decided to split the winnings instead of a playoff; everyone had fun. Mike and I think we could expect 12 or more teams every Sunday.

Stay tuned for more information.

Good for you Tom! Pat and I are working on starting up Friday doubles at Bradford as well, possibly as early as this coming Friday. Same deal, $5 details soon. Sorry for thread jacking, just a coincidence.

I thought it was a pretty good turnout for such short notice. I am pretty excited about the possibility for exposure to the club on this side of town.

Sunday league dubs at Winget was overwhelming approved at the CDGC's meeting last night.

FIRST DATE: Sunday June 30

9:30 AM Registration; random draw at 10:15; tee around 10:30; expect rounds to be about 2 hours.

Cost: $5 ($4 for current club members) Cash payout to top finishing teams. $1 per player will go to the club to help defray insurance and course maintenance costs

This league intends to focus on player development and fun. A little less serious than some other club leagues but PDGA rules will be stressed (more educational than strictly enforced). What will be strictly enforced are PDGA's, CGDC's, and Parks and Rec's policies on illegal substances and alcohol (if you need these to play in the morning, don't show up and get help).

Hope to see many new and smiling faces on Sundays.

The illegal substances and alcohol comment seems to be unnecessary as there are signs at the course. The PDGA doesn't allow smoking at big events so are you going to adhere to that rule also?

Dubs at Winget is on for this Sunday.

I have suggested a $5 entry, plus $1 non club, $1 optional Ace.

This will increase the payout and drive membership at the same time.
PDGA Club Singles - Saturdays 11am

Pros $11, Ams $7
Optional Ace $1
Club Members $1 OFF
